Tropical Storm Bret is anticipated to reach the Lesser Antilles islands in the Caribbean Sea by late Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center’s latest update on Tuesday. However, the storm is no longer expected to develop into a rare June hurricane as previously anticipated.
Instead, it is now projected to impact the Lesser Antilles as a tropical storm. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s satellite image captured Hurricane Ian near Cuba on Monday at 1:00 p.m. ET, emphasizing the ongoing hurricane season that began on June 1.
The National Hurricane Center stated that Bret’s forecasted intensity has been reduced, allowing for the possibility of some strengthening but maintaining the system below hurricane strength.
Currently, the storm carries winds of 40 mph and is rapidly moving westward at 21 mph. While there hasn’t been any strengthening recorded on Tuesday, the storm’s forward speed has increased.
